Transcription: In this indenture, Auguste Boisclair (described as a young free negro of 16 years of age) is sponsored by his uncle, Noel Carriere (described as a free negro), as an apprentice to Maignon & Laurie to learn to be a blacksmith and foundry worker. In French.</br></br>Indentures in which at least one party was a free person of color were selected from among all of the indentures available.
