1758: WHEREAS a Mulatto Man Slave named JOHN, a Sailmaker by Trade, belonging to the Heirs of the late Widow Van Rank hath absented himself from the Service of the Subscriber upwards of two Year, and still absents himself: These are therefore to forwarn all Persons whatsoever, not to entertain, conceal, harbour or employ the said Mulatto in any Shape whatsoever. ...
