DREADFUL MURDER AT WINDUST’S PARK ROW, NEW-YORK CITY—About ten o’clock last night, a waiter at the Shakspeare, Park Row, named Patrick Daly, re-marked for his uniform civility, unfortunately came to his death by the hands of a colored man named John Edward Robinson, a waiter in one of the gambling es-tablishments in the neighborhood. It appeared that Robinson came to the Shakspeare on some business, and he and the deceased went into the larder together, when a quarrel took place, and both went into the street, where it was renewed. Robinson then went to a house by, and got an iron bar, used for fastening the door, and returning gave the deceased a violent blow on the left temple, and falling backwards, his head came in contact with a stone, and a severe wound was inflicted upon the back part of it, fracturing the skull. The poor fellow died about three hours afterwards.—He was a native of Ireland, and about twenty-four years of age.
As soon as the serious nature of the outrage was known, Mr. Windust took the most active steps to ar-rest the villain, who, not being aware perhaps of the fatal result returned to his room, where he was secured by officers Dennison and Stokely, and lodged in the tombs. An inquest will be held in the afternoon.—N.Y. Express, 20th inst.
