Transcription
COMMITTED to the Jail of Warren county, Mi., by Miles C. Folkes, Mayor of the City of Vicks-burg, on the 27th day of November, 1846, a runaway slave by the name of JOHN BATTACH, who says he is a free man and has been raised in New Orleans, La. This boy is about 35 or 36 years of age, is of a brown complexion and a barber by trade; he is about 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, has been crippled in one of his legs, for which he wears a wooden leg. He speaks the French and Spanish languages. The owner is requested to come forward, prove property, pay charges, and take said boy away, or he will be dealt with as the law directs. C.
