St. James, Santee, July 20, 1775.
RUN AWAY from my Plantation the 30th of June last, a likely Negro Fellow, named BILLY, of the Angola country: He is about 30 Years of Age, four Feet eight Inches high, and well made, speaks good English, and is very artful; he has a small Mark on the Upper Part of his Forehead, which appears rather like a Scratch, and is a Cooper by Trade: He had on a blue Jacket and Breeches, white Negro Cloth Boots, and a Leather Cap. Whoever apprehends and delivers said Fellow to me, on my Plantation, or to the Warden of the Work-house, in Charles-Town, shall receive Five Pounds Reward, and all reasonable Charges. PAUL DOUXSAINT. N.B. Whoever gives information of his being harboured, if by a white Person, Ten Pounds Currency, and if by a Negro Five Pounds like Money, to be paid on Conviction of the offender.
