$20 REWARD RANAWAY from the subscriber, living in Woodville, on the night of the 2d inst., my negro man SAM, aged about 35 years, dark brown complexion, considerably marked by the smallpox, about 5 feet 10 inches high, slender built, has a scar on his right arm, from a knife having been passed through it, has a muttering way of speaking. Said negro having lived in Arkansas, and being accustomed to steam boating, having acted as a cook on one some years since, will no doubt aim to get to the river, and aim to get on board of the same boat, passing up, as he was heard some time since express a wish to get to Arkansas; he was brought to Mississippi, and sold here by Mr. John Smylie of Arkansas. The above reward will be given for his apprehension, if taken in this couny, and delibered to me at this place. J. A. MONTGOMERY Woodville, Sept. 5th, 1840
