In this indenture, Louis (described as a negro slave of about 11 years of age) is sponsored by Joseph Pietro (described as a free negro) as an apprentice to Louis Gilles to learn to be a blacksmith. In French.</br></br>Indentures in which at least one party was a free person of color were selected from among all of the indentures available.
