Alexandria, September 6, 1783.
TEN DOLLARS REWARD.
RAN AWAY, from the Subscriber, on the 31st ult. a NEGRO FELLOW named MOSES, about 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, and well proportioned, about 35 years of age. Had on and took with him, a superfine London-brown broadcloth coat, lined with white rattinet, with tortoise-shell buttons, an old blue ditto, with white buttone, a buff cloth waistcoat and breeches, with sundry others—MOSES has a small turn for music, plays indifferently on the fiddle: He has been generally used to cooking and waiting in a house, which he understands exceeding well; he has travelled from this to the Carolinas as a servant, which made him acquainted with the country; is artful and plausible, and no doubt will attempt passing as a free man—I am very apprehensive he will endeavour to get on board some vessel that is bound for sea—This is therefore to forewarn all Captains of Vessels whatever from taking said fellow on board. I will give the above Reward to any person that will secure him, and reasonable Charges, if brought home.
HENRY LYLES.
