The Brooklyn Eagle has the following ; “Mr. Doxsey, one of our county superintendents’ informs us that the affair mentioned yesterday, is one of the most singular instances of religious delusion that ever came under his observation, in its effect upon the four deluded fanatics who have been placed in a lunatic asylum of this county. The two children were consigned to the poor house.—Up to Saturday afternoon—having been there nearly a week—the lunatic adults had refused all kinds of sustenance, rarely making any articulate sound, and then only repeating the senseless jargon “ Wissey wassey !” The children, too, had for some days conducted in a similar manner, but hunger at length overpowered them, and they ate and talked somewhat rationally. The negro Hod-ges has heretofore rendered himself notorious in several instances. He some years ago, we learn, formed a plan for an insurrection among the slaves of Virginia, and proceeded to that State, where he was arrested by authorities. He has recently come on from there, where, it seems, the church exists of which the above deluded victims were a branch in Williamsburgh. There is another branch in Plattsburgh, in this State.” We have already contradicted, at Mr. Hodges’ request, a report that he was insane, but here are some particulars of which we were not before cognizant.
