$50 REWARD. RANAWAY from the subscriber, in Jefferson County, State of Mississippi, on the night of the 7th instant, A NEGRO MAN NAMED JOHN, (a Black-Smith by trade,) quite low but stout made--about twenty-eight or nine years of age , has a small scar near the corner of his left eye, and another, (I think,) on his upper lip. His aim will be to get on board a Steam-Boat, bound for Kentucky, as he once did do—worked as a fire-man, and passed for a free man. All masters of Steam-Boats are requested to take notice. He is rather of a yellowish cast, speaks very quick and cheerful, carried away with him a drab great coat. If said fellow is delivered to me or lodged in any Jail, within two months, I will give the above reward, and after that period one hundred dol-lars. JOHN I. W. ROSS. October 8, 1823—74
