COMMITTED, TO the jail of Warren county, State of Mississippi, by L. S. Houghton, an acting Justice of the Peace in and for said county, on the 12th day of October, 1858, a negro man, who says his name is ALFORD, and belongs to Mr. George Colher, living near Port Gibson. Said negro is about 25 or 27 years of age, dark copper colord, 5 feet 6 or 8 inches high, has a scar on the middle finger of his left hand, says he is a blacksmith by trade, and was sold at Port Gibson by Forest, a trader, to George Collier. The owner is requested to come forward, prove pro-perty, pay charges, and take said slave away, or he will be dealt with as the law directs. SAMUEL EDWARDS, Sheriff. By J. K. WELSH, Jailor. oc15
