$50 REWARD. RANAWAY from my plantation, within two miles of Washington, Mi., a few days since, a Negro man named Sam Smith, aged about 38 years, upwards of 6 feet high, slender built, very black, a very slight piece cut off the upper tip of each ear, has good front teeth, wore whiskers when he left—is an excellent wood mechanic— he has a very impudent look, and when spoken to is rather slow in answering. The above reward will be paid for his apprehension and so securing him that I get him. ANTHONY HOGGATT. Natchez, Sept. 19, 1848.
