$25 REWARD, RANAWAY IN THE LATTER PART OF January last, a negro man named SAM, about 22 years of age, very black, spare built, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, has a down look when spoken to. Has been seen in the counties of Onslow, Duplin and Wayne, where he has been exhibiting a forged permission to work around, purporting to be signed by the subscriber, or by S. R. Bunting. He is a bricklayer and plasterer. The above reward will be given for the return of said negro or for his lodgement[sic] in any jail in the State, so that I can get him, and a further reward of $50 for proof sufficient to convict any free person, white or colored, of harboring said negro, or furnishing him with forged pass or passes. DAVID E. BUNTING. Wilmington, N.C., Oct. 4th, 1855. 25-1m--5-4t
