RUN away from Occoquan in Prince William, sometime last fall, a Negro fellow named LEAMON (alias CLEM) belonging to the Hon. Presty Thornton, Esq; deceased; he, with two other Negro fellows, named Jeffers and George, belonging to Doctor Guslavas Brown,of Maryland went off together from these parts, and were all three taken up and confined in Hampshire gaol, from whence I had them released, and brought in handcuffs, till they put within a few miles of said furnace, when, by some or other, they all made their escape from the person who had them in charge; since which they were seen frequently together near Frederick town, Maryland, where it seems Doctor brown's fellow George, being less artful and cunning that the other two, was taken up and properly secured, the others making their escape, and have not since been heard of. Leaman (by trade acarpenter) is a short well made fellow, of a yellowish complexion, had on a blue jacket, and, in every other respect, cloathed as Negroes commonly are, only that is hat had a white metal button to it. His obstinacy in not delivering himself up, when surking a considerable time about the ironworks, and doing mischief, induced me to have him outlawed; in which condition he nowstands and remains, as does Jeffery also, who is of a larger size than Leaman, and had on him a grey Newmarket coat, a grey jacket and breeches, and a hat with a yellow button to it. Whoever takes up the said Negro Leaman, and conveys him to Occoquan furnace, or so secureshim that I may get him again, shall receive the reward of SIXTEEN DOLLARS, and am authorized to promise the same reward for the sake conveying or securing the said Negro Jeffery to his master, near Port Tobacco,in Maryland. All reasonable charges will also be allowed and paid by
