RUN away from the subscriber, on the 18th of September , a negro man named Frank , whom I purchased of the late Col. Byrd ; the said fellow says he is a Frenchman . therefore may endeavour to pass for a freeman, and try to get employ as a sailor. He is about the middle size, has been shot through his right hand, as well as I remember, which renders his thumb and two of his fingers stiff, has had the smallpox, is of a fully disposition, has been employed as a miller several years, and has taken with him an old sword. Whoever will take up the said fellow, or secure him so that I get him again, shall receive twenty dollars reward.
JOHN APPERSON.
All masters or owners of vessels are forewarned from employing or carrying the said fellow out of this state.
