AUGUST 25, 1772.
RUN away from Petersburg , four or five Weeks ago, a Negro Man named Jack, a street, black Fellow, with reddish Eyes, thick lips and an ill natured Countenance; he is artful when sober, but very apt to get drunk, is about thirty Years of Age, and believe he was born in the West Indies, from whence is just come. He had on, when he went away, a new Felt Hat, a Sailor's Canvass Frock and Trousers, a long Coat of white Osnabrugs, and long Trousers of the same. He is a pretty good Sailor, and understands Something of the Ship Carpenter's Business. We imagine he has hired himself on Board some Vessel, and will attempt t escape to the West Indies , under the Character of a Freeman. We will give a Reward of THREE POUNDS to any Person that will deliver him to us at Norfolk , or Petersburg .
